AN Uber driver was robbed at knifepoint and handcuffed to her steering wheel on the Gold Coast final night time.

Detectives are investigating the armed theft which occurred round eight.45pm in Runaway Bay.

A 39-year-previous Carrara lady picked up a masked man on Marine Pde at Biggera Waters.

The male passenger was armed with a knife and demanded the lady drive him to Harbour Town. As they drove alongside Morala Drive, he ordered the lady to cease and provides him cash. She handed over a small amount of money.

The male passenger then handcuffed her to the steering wheel so he might seek for extra money.

The lady was then launched from the handcuffs and was advised to proceed driving earlier than being ordered to pull over on Frank St the place the male passenger fled the automotive.

A subsequent search of the world failed to discover him.

The lady suffered minor bruising because of the handcuffs.

The man is described as caucasian in his early twenties with a good complexion.
