An Austin rideshare driver says he feared for his life after he did not instantly reply to a inexperienced mild, final Friday.
Friday’s incident is one of three road rage incidents that occurred over the weekend.
Joshua Shirley makes a dwelling in his automotive driving for Ride Austin. According to police paperwork, final Friday at round 2:30 p.m. Shirley was ready in the left flip lane on the intersection of Brodie and Davis in South Austin. When the sunshine turned inexperienced Shirley stated a person in a white truck behind him “laid on the horn.”
Shirley stated the person in the white truck pulled up subsequent to him whereas on Brodie Lane and waved a gun at him.
“I was already crying,” stated Shirley “I have not had someone pull a gun on me like that. It was pretty scary.”
Shirley then pulled into an house complicated and referred to as 911 whereas the person in the white truck pulled into an condominium complicated throughout the road and based on police affidavit pulled out a gun and pointed it at him, courtroom paperwork say.
Shirley stated, “I just started screaming. I was like, ‘He has a gun! He has a gun! He’s going to shoot!'”
Shirley drove off whereas on the telephone with 911 dispatch, APD arrived seconds later and arrested a person police determine as Hugo Reyna.
Court paperwork stated Reyna said that “Joshua had given him the bird.” And Reyna thought Shirley was making an attempt to swerve into his truck. Reyna feared for his life so he “flashed” his unloaded gun at him as a imply of defending himself. Reyna advised police he did not level the gun at Shirley.
Shirley offered video of the incident to police displaying Reyna pointing a handgun outdoors of his window instantly at Shirley’s automotive. CBS Austin requested the video from police on Oct. 25.
A .45 caliber bullet was discovered in the correct entrance pocket of Reyna’s pants on the time of his arrest.
Reyna is charged with aggravated assault with a lethal weapon and held on a $30,000 bond.
When requested what Shirley would say to Reyna if he noticed him once more, he stated, “Take a few breaths, relax, I mean, life’s busy enough, why rush when you’re on the road.”
